Urgent Call for Climate Action in IPCC’s Latest Report
The Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) recently released a synthesis report that demands urgent action to keep climate change to within 1.5C. The IPCC reports that greenhouse emissions have continued to rise over the last five years. Renewable energy including solar PV is available now to reduce emissions, and can be further scaled.
Whilst the challenge is an urgent one, we have the tools and means now to reduce emissions. The IPCC reports: “There are multiple, feasible and effective options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to human-caused climate change, and they are available now.”
Solpod is proudly helping our customers reduce emissions and achieve their sustainability goals. Solpod developed the world’s first redeployable rooftop solar solution that makes it easier for businesses to access clean, renewable energy.

Untapped Commercial and Industrial Rooftops
Most commercial rooftops currently do not have solar PV installed, meaning an opportunity for business to reduce emissions is being wasted. Solpod’s redeployable solar is available now to help business adopt solar with no fuss, flexible and cost saving solutions.
Our solar pods are prefabricated in a factory controlled setting, and rapidly installed via cranes. Solpods are ideal for large, flat rooftops like shopping centres, warehouses and industrial sites.
In the US for example, the total estimate for the combined rooftop size of commercial stores, including building such as superstores and big box stores, is 109,000 acres. Aryn Baker wrote in Time Magazine about that rooftop space being used to generate renewable energy from solar PV: “That’s enough to produce more than 50 million megawatt hours of electricity a year—and power 5.2 million households.”
Corporate Social Responsibility
The IPCC Synthesis Report outlines the need for a combined effort to reduce emissions using the tools and technology available now. Solpod customers are responding to the community expectation that their businesses demonstrate sustainability and corporate responsibly.
“Mainstreaming effective and equitable climate action will not only reduce losses and damages for nature and people, it will also provide wider benefits,” said IPCC Chair Hoesung Lee. “This Synthesis Report underscores the urgency of taking more ambitious action and shows that, if we act now, we can still secure a liveable sustainable future for all.”
Our customer Bureau Veritas is committed to being a world leader in sustainability. Recently a Solpod solar project received ‘Most Impactful Initiative’ across Bureau Veritas’ global operations.
More than 1600 solar panels were installed across three sites in Australia, including Wingfield, Adelaide, SA, Wyalla, SA and Cardiff Newcastle, NSW..
“Use of renewable energy will significantly reduce the sites’ carbon pollution, cutting over 712 tons of CO2 emissions per year,” reports Bureau Veritas.
